About
RMS Physical Education
We believe that Physical Education is a lifelong endeavor that promotes the values of individual fitness, group participation, and social interaction.
Through a wide variety of activities, challenges, and instructional methods, our students will develop physically intellectually and emotionally.
Our goal is to provide an active, educational, safe, enjoyable, and supportive program in which every student has the opportunity to be successful. We encourage students to try things outside of their comfort zone in a hope that everyone finds something they want to continue outside of school.
PE Policy
As a PE Department we strive to create a safe environment for all PE students. In order to do that we have created policies for students to abide by. Please review our policies so that you and your child are aware of the PE requirements.
1
PE Uniform
-
Students are required to change into their PE clothes daily. This means the student must have a change of clothes specifically for P.E. class. Click here to buy PE Uniform
-
If you choose to buy non-school PE clothes, students need a plain T-shirt, shorts and athletic shoes that are fastened securely.
-
An unmarked, all black or Roosevelt baseball cap may be worn.
-
Black/Grey tights are acceptable.
-
Students are not allowed to put PE clothes over their normal school attire.
2
Non-Suits
-
Students not properly dressed for P.E. will be marked a non-suit and issued a set of loaner clothes.
-
Two non-suits are allowed each semester without penalty.
-
A third non-suit will result in parent contact.
-
Refusal to use loaner clothes will result in parent contact and administrative referral.
-
Students start each new semester with a clean slate of no non-suits.
3
Medical
-
A parent note can excuse a student for up to 2 days.
-
Doctor's notes will be followed as outlined and a copy will be on file with the nurse.
-
Student is required to dress even with note.
-
If a doctor's note excuses the student for half of the semester, they will be enrolled in a different elective in accordance with Ed. Code Section 51241.
